What were the steps leading up to where you are now?
Ryan: I got into entrepreneurship in the summer between my Freshman and Sophomore year...I decided that to dive in I was going to learn how to develop Android apps for an hour a day until I had my first app created and published on the Play Store...eventually I reached a long streak of these hour-a-day sessions, but I had lost track of how many days I had accomplished it and still didn't have an app to my name. So I decided that my first app would be a simple streak counter that kept a record of how consistent users were in accomplishing their goals. I developed this app over the course of the summer and finally released it in the fall under the name 7 Weeks.
Sounds like last summer was a cool one, what have you been up to this summer?
Ryan: This summer I've been interning over at MailChimp as an Android developer, working on expanding 7 Weeks and cranking out a new project that will be coming out before long. It's been an extremely productive summer and I'm hoping to carry that productivity over to the Fall.
This sounds exciting, so where do you see 7 weeks going forward?
Ryan: The next plans for the app start very soon with the iOS release of the app, set for October 1st. From there, I'm really wanting to focus on entering into the fitness and health tracking market by incorporating streak/goal tracking with wearables such as Apple Watch, Fitbit, etc.
